Kentucky Eye Center is a well-established full-service eye care practice offering a full range of services including comprehensive eye exams this for the entire family, comprehensive eye surgery, including cataract surgery with multifocal and toric intraocular lens implants. We are well-trained to care for diabetic eye disease, glaucoma, macular degeneration, and thyroid eye disease.
Our office offers comprehensive contact lens fitting, offering a diverse array of contact lens models and materials. We are highly trained for successful fitting of challenging "hard to fit" lenses, including multifocal "bifocal" lenses and contact lenses for high astigmatism. Our optical dispensary offers a diverse array of high quality frame styles for the entire family.
Your initial eye examination may include the following:
A high quality eye examination includes dilation of the eyes, which is necessary for all our new patients, unless medically contraindicated. The dilation typically lasts 4–6 hours and can result in blurring of your vision. It is recommended that a driver accompany you for your first appointment, particularly if you have never driven with dilated pupils. It is advisable that you bring your sunglasses with you to all of your eye examinations.
Dr. Kyle Ferguson was born in Lexington but has called Nicholasville, KY, his home for most of his life. He has a diverse eye care background, having served as both an optician in his "younger days" and now as a surgical ophthalmologist, specializing in cataract, refractive, and ocular cancer surgeries.
Dr. Ferguson has a wide range of interests, including UK athletics, outdoor activities, travel, and history. When not looking after his three sons, Dr. Ferguson enjoys flying—he has his private pilot's license with advanced certification too!
Dr. Ferguson earned his medical degree from the University of Pikeville. Upon graduation from medical school, Dr. Ferguson was selected for a coveted ocular oncology fellowship at the world-renowned Wills Eye Institute in Philadelphia, PA. After his fellowship, Dr. Ferguson completed his ophthalmic residency with an additional year of family practice training in and around New York City. Dr. Ferguson returned to Kentucky to complete an anterior segment cataract fellowship and now resides in Nicholasville, KY.
Dr. Emily Allen was born in Lawrenceville, Illinois, but has called Eastern Kentucky home for the last five years. She graduated from Southern Illinois University, where she played clarinet in the pep band, symphonic band, and Marching Salukis. After completing her Bachelor of Science, she continued on to attend the University of Pikeville-Kentucky College of Optometry. She completed her residency in ocular disease at the Hershel "Woody" Williams VA Medical Center in Huntington, WV.
Dr. Allen enjoys outdoor activities, spending time with her cats, reading, and traveling.
Kentucky Eye Center is very excited to have Dr. Emily Allen join the practice. Dr. Allen will be a tremendous asset to our patients in both our Lexington and Jackson, KY locations.
